So our monthly posts have turned into quarterly posts it seems. The missionary work is highly successful and that is keeping us very busy. But we love it here and working with the local members and our young missionaries is the best!
Here are some of the things we have done, places we have been and sights of Scotland we have seen.....
This is Gabriel who got baptized after meeting the Sister Missionaries, Sister Holbrook and Sister Archibald, on the street. His family are atheists, but he was interested in learning more about God and Jesus Christ and took to the Gospel message quickly. He is now preparing to go on a mission in October of 2026. An outstanding young man!
This is Sumudu who is from Sri Lanka. She had to wait many months for her permanent residency in Scotland so she could be baptized. She is a wonderful member! Standing next to Sumudu is Sister Lopez and Sister Owens.
This is Issac. He only speaks Arabic and was taught by Arabic speaking missionaries in San Diego on remote calls, along with Sister Archibald and Sister Holbrook here in Perth.
Jesus Christ told His apostles to go into all the world and proclaim His gospel to every nation, kindred, tongue and people. That is being fulfilled here in Scotland as we teach and baptize people from all over the world. China, Middle East, Africa, India, Sri Lanka, many European countries and more. This is very exciting for us to see happen right before our eyes.
For Halloween we went to Pitlochry to see the Enchanted Forest. A beautiful wooded area and the lights were amazing. They had fog machines that made the lighting even more impressive.
Winter in Scotland is a lot different than in the summer, but beautiful in it's own way.
From L to R: Christmas market in Edinburgh, saw a unique show called a Panto, Christmas market in Belfast Northern Ireland with the McCurdys, who are the Humanitarian Missionaries in the UK, matching Christmas dress for Zone Party.
A Panto is a Pantomime put on only during the Christmas season. We would call it a parody or a farce type performance. Very funny, a bit edgy and wonderfully entertaining. Classic tales "retold". The show we saw was a unique take on Pinocchio.
Ward trip to the Preston, England Temple to see Henry and Mary sealed with their 2 young boys. Henry and Mary (from Nigeria) joined the church in 2024 and were very involved in Church activities and Sunday services. They were sealed in the Preston, England temple on December 10th 2025 along with their 2 boys. They were supported by so many of their friends from the Dundee Bingham Ward. This was an extremely joyful experience for us and especially for them, knowing they were now an eternal family. Many smiles and tears of joy, and the Holy Ghost was felt by all. This family has a very special place in our hearts.
Riverdance in Belfast, Northern Ireland. What a great show!
Carrick Fergus Castle in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Blackness Castle near Edinburgh. It was built to look like a ship with a bow. The last drawbridge built in the UK is here.
Meet Haggis, the Highland Coo. Jackie loves these beautiful animals and their personality. Watch those horns though!
Scottish Words and Phrases of the Day
- Glaikit (Adj.): Stupid, foolish, or senseless.
- Gallus (Adj.): Cheeky, bold, or confident.
- Coorie (Verb): To cuddle, snuggle, or nestle in.
- Lang may yer lum reek: Long may your chimney smoke (a toast wishing someone long life/prosperity).
We have seen so many miracles as we serve as missionaries for Jesus Christ. People accepting His gospel and changing their lives, young missionaries with powerful faith in Jesus Christ out talking to people all day and testifying of the Savior. A drastic increase in the number of convert baptisms we have seen in this mission, and the blessing of our family back home as the Lord has promised us for serving on this mission. We are grateful for this opportunity to be here doing what we are doing. We love and miss you all and can't wait for the time we will see you again.
Love to all,
Elder Glen Meigs & Sister Jackie Meigs
